Sponsor a Fellowship

By sponsoring a fellowship, you have an extraordinary impact—not only by supporting the fellow’s work to defend clean water, land, air and government while at MEA—but also but also by investing in a public interest law career that will continue for years into the future.

By sponsoring a fellowship, you support a public interest law career that will help defend clean water, land, air, and government.

Establishing a Named Fellowship

A legal fellowship is a full-time position for an environmental attorney embarking on a career in public interest law. It’s an opportunity that provides invaluable training for the fellow while expanding MEA’s capacity to provide high quality legal services to diverse communities across the state. Fellows work closely with staff attorneys to develop and implement litigation and advocacy strategies on behalf of Tribal nations, environmental and public health-focused groups, and other individuals and groups who are directly harmed by environmental contamination.

A named fellowship can be established with a gift or pledge of $60,000 to $80,000 per year for a minimum of two years. Your sponsorship contributes to the fellow’s salary, benefits and ongoing professional development.

Benefits

  • opportunity to name the fellowship
  • opportunity to meet MEA fellows and receive firsthand updates on their work
  • fellowship name appears on the fellow’s email signature line, on publications and on legal writing
recognition on MEA website and through social media, newsletter and annual report.

If you are interested in establishing a named fellowship, please contact MEA Executive Director Tony Wilkin Gibart at tgibart@midwestadvocates.org.
