Sponsor a Clerkship

MEA’s clerk program creates real-world training for tomorrow’s environmental leaders. Donors who fund named clerkships have an extraordinary impact—not only by supporting clerks’ contributions to defending clean water, land, air and government while at MEA—but also by investing in public interest law careers that will continue for years into the future.

Our paralegal internship program provides Madison College students with experience in environmental law practice and nonprofit legal work.

establish a clerkship

With a gift of $15,000 or more, you can establish a named clerkship, which supports one clerk for the duration of their summer clerkship. Your gift contributes to a stipend and professional development seminars for the clerk, as well as close supervision by a staff attorney to ensure that the educational and professional development objectives of the clerkship are met.

  • opportunity to name the clerkship
  • opportunity to meet MEA clerks and receive firsthand updates on their work
  • clerkship name appears on the clerk’s email signature line, on publications and on legal writing
  • recognition on MEA website and through social media, newsletter and annual report.

donate to an existing named clerkship

You can support a clerkship with a gift of any amount! Your gift, combined with others, will help ensure that the named clerkship of your choice continues to benefit future environmental leaders.

If you are interested in establishing or contributing to a named clerkship, please contact MEA Executive Director Tony Wilkin Gibart at
