Tressie returned to Midwest Environmental Advocates in 2026, after previously working as a Staff Attorney for the MEA team from 2014 to 2019. She spent approximately six years as an Assistant Attorney General at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she worked on a breadth of environmental enforcement and defense matters. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director of the Center for Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

This background has allowed Tressie to focus on mentorship and supervision of law students and new lawyers while developing expertise on issues ranging from PFAS and agricultural contamination to Clean Water Act and wetlands compliance. At MEA, Tressie feels privileged to work on climate and public trust litigation. She continues to develop MEA’s monitoring and enforcement of a variety of laws to help advocate for impacted individuals, families, and frontline communities.

Tressie earned her bachelor’s degree in wildlife ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her law degree from Cardozo School of Law. Outside of the office, Tressie spends time sharing her love of natural resources with her two children. Running, time with her dog, and raising monarch butterflies all help her stay energized to pursue place-based legal and policy work.
