MEA friend and colleague Gordon Stevenson passed away on May 24, 2025. As we reflect on Gordon’s passing, we remember with gratitude his kindness and unwavering conservation ethic.
Gordon served on the MEA board of directors for ten years. Before joining the MEA board, Gordon spent over 25 years at the DNR, retiring as Chief of Runoff Management, where he oversaw both agricultural and urban nonpoint pollution programs. He played a pivotal role in developing Wisconsin’s regulatory framework for agricultural pollution sources.
Gordon brought wisdom and generosity to everything he did at MEA. His leadership as a board member strengthened MEA with one-of-a-kind knowledge gained from his lifetime vocation of building environmental protections. While we are deeply saddened by his loss, we take solace in knowing that Gordon’s contributions to Wisconsin’s conservation legacy will endure for generations.
