Open Government Fund

Government transparency is the foundation of environmental democracy. All too often however, Wisconsinites encounter barriers when they attempt to access the information they are entitled to. In response, Midwest Environmental Advocates has launched an Open Government Fund, an initiative that will allow us to expand our efforts to provide grassroots groups with the information and access they need to be effective.

Your gift will support:

  • Targeted public records requests to bring critical information to the public eye

  • Strategic litigation when public records and open meetings laws have been violated

  • Legal assistance to grassroots groups for their records requests

  • Financial assistance to grassroot groups when records request fees are a barrier
