MEA is proud to introduce Climate on Trial, a new 24-minute documentary produced by our partners at WEHN Justice.
The film introduces viewers to a group of young Wisconsinites who are suing the state over climate change. In their own words, they explain what they love about Wisconsin, what they hope to protect and why they believe the courts should hear their claims.
Midwest Environmental Advocates and Our Children’s Trust filed the lawsuit on behalf of fifteen young people—ages 8 to 18—for enacting and enforcing state laws that exacerbate the climate crisis and violate their rights to a safe and stable climate. In Dunn v. Wisconsin Public Service Commission, the young plaintiffs are asking Wisconsin courts to recognize their right to a stable climate and to hold state decision-makers accountable for actions that contribute to climate change.
Climate on Trial brings these issues to life by putting our clients at the center of the story. Their voices and experiences provide a perspective that can be easy to lose sight of in discussions about emissions, energy policy and government decision-making.
