Midwest Environmental Advocates is thrilled to welcome Tressie Kamp to our team as Senior Staff Attorney.
Tressie returns to MEA after previously serving as an MEA staff attorney from 2014 to 2019. Since then, she has deepened her expertise through leadership roles in government and academia. Tressie served for six years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she handled a wide range of environmental enforcement and defense matters. Most recently, she was the Assistant Director of the Center for Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Tressie has developed expertise on issues ranging from PFAS contamination and agricultural pollution to the Clean Water Act and wetlands compliance. She also brings a passion for mentoring law students and early-career attorneys.
“Tressie has always been an exceptional advocate for Wisconsin’s environment,” said Tony Wilkin Gibart, Executive Director of Midwest Environmental Advocates. “Her experience in environmental enforcement, water policy, and public interest litigation makes her an incredible asset to our team. We’re excited to welcome her back and know her leadership will strengthen our work on behalf of communities across Wisconsin.”
Tressie earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a law degree from Cardozo School of Law.
Outside of the office, she enjoys sharing her love of natural resources with her two children. Whether she’s running, spending time with her dog, or raising monarch butterflies, Tressie draws inspiration from the places and wildlife she works to protect.
