Citizen Voices Matter: In Milwaukee

Jayme Montgomery-Baker was one of the Milwaukee leaders who opposed a plan to privatize city water. People who live in Milwaukee not only depend on clean water to live; clean city water depends on an open and transparent, public infrastructure.

With MEA’s help, Jayme and her neighbors rallied their city, raised awareness about how water privatization is an environmental justice issue, and kept this essential, life-sustaining service in the public sector that is held accountable to tax payers.

Watch Jayme’s story in our 2011 film, Crossing the Line: Defending Wisconsin's Environmental Commons.
